What Is Cognitive Orthopathy?
There’s a design in the mind of every human being when it comes to human relationships. We all have ideas of what makes a successful relationship when it comes to friendship, workplace relations, marriage, parenting and many other forms of human interaction. Every emotion we experience within these relationships is based on ethical expectations that come with whatever ideas we have of successful relationships. Depending on your particular relationship, these ethics may look like honesty, empathy or clear communication. What if my idea of friendship doesn’t align with someone with whom I enter into a friendship? Something that may anger me may make my friend happy. Then, which emotional response is right? The Good Feelings Initiative was founded to help you find solutions to these common problems that often plague relationships through a method of emotional intelligence called Cognitive Orthopathy. Cognitive orthopathy means acquiring the right feeling. Where cognitive orthopathy differs from modern emotional intelligence is, while modern emotional intelligences helps gives our emotions recognition and guidance, cognitive orthopathy helps gives our emotions a desired destination. The method of cognitive orthopathy works by:
- Helping you establish a goal of what a successful relationship looks like by designing ethical expectations that are satisfactory to you and other parties involved in your particular relationship.
- Helping you to establish what, when, where, why and how emotions should accompany each ethic of your particular relationship.
- Helping you to quickly identify, navigate and adjust your emotions and the emotions of other parties in your relationship through established emotional intelligence practices.
